I have them on grower feed still - it's in a can to keep the squirrels out, and it's out of the weather. I check it each time I fill their feed, and it's not moldy or damp. The only thing a few of them are obsessed with eating that's weird is the foam padding on our kid's trampoline polls. The...
Hi thank you! I treated with Corid for 5 days in their waterers (kept their bowls empty so they had to drink from them). We didn't do a drop with concentrated Corid directly to Phoebe (the last sick one), but I did do a drop of the water mixture - so it's possible that she didn't' get enough...
Hi all, this is our first flock, we started out with 6, added 4 and then added another 4, all within the same age group. None have started laying yet. They are all creeping up on 6 months old. We had 3 roosters and 11 hens. A couple months ago, the second batch of 4 hens we got, from a...
So I couldn't get a picture, because I couldn't hold the feathers open and snap it at the same time - but it doesn't even look like anything. Just like skin and bone. No sore, no missing feathers, her skin doesn't look weird. But she didn't make it out of the coop this morning, she's just...
Hi all, we had a chicken die last week after we took her to the vet for a swollen eye/sinus infection--she had a weird lump on her side, too, and gradually her body just shut down despite medication--about 2 weeks after we found the swollen eye.
Two days later, one of our other chickens started...
I thought so. it's only a matter of time until my husband changes his name from Lavender to Laserbeak. Any idea about the other one? It's (supposedly) a welbar, and our friendliest bird, a real sweetheart.
We have a mixed bag of 11 week olds - one we've known as a rooster for a while, and he just started crowing. All the others look like hens except for 2 we're not sure about - any ideas? We were resigned to 2, but don't think we can handle 3 in our yard, so it's disappointing:
The barred one is...
Just noticed that the black one (DJ Chirps) has gotten one white tip at the bottom of each of her wing feathers - meaning one feather on each side has it, not all the wing feathers, at the bottom of her wings) can't get a good picture, but it's the same on each side of her. So leaning toward...
I guess it's a waiting game now!
My husband would love that, because then he could pick out a different rooster :)
Huh, that might be cool.
I have to admit it's kind of fun just seeing how they're going to turn out and not really knowing? Although I was looking forward to having a bsl hen -...
disclaimer: super new to chickens.
Pretty sure I know what the answer's gonna be, but we picked out 2 bsl girls and one is feathering in barred and has a much bigger comb than the other - rooster or not a bsl? neither of them had (noticeable) white dots on their heads, but I don't know how...
Nah, my husband was hoping for a roo from the lavenders so having Fluffy should be fine- unless we get complaints! Hopefully all the rest will be females tho :)
He’s the most skittish of the lot and the ameraucanas are the friendliest, which I know is all conjecture but fingers crossed
