First time chicken mom here: I got 6 days-old chicks for Mother's day. Now we're at our 4th week, the coop is delivered, and we're just waiting (to get them out of my house)! The kids picked out 4 girls - an olive egger, a welbar, and 2 black sex links - and 2 lavender ameraucanas which we were told could be either boys or girls. I greatly suspect tho that we had a mix up, because one of the sex links is feathering in barred. Either way "Fluffy" will be loved (if not by our neighbors).

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! Glad you joined the flock! BYC is a very helpful and informative site! Sounds like you will have a colorful egg variety if most of them turn out to be females. If your black sexlink is feathering in barred then he is a cockerel. Hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do!
