    Can you recommend your favourite "keeping chickens" book please?

    Before I got my first chickens, I bought Storey's guide to raising chickens by Gail Damerow. It had most of the info I needed from building the coop to feeding and diseases. A few things it didnt tell me I was able to research on the internet. Good Luck

    I got some White Rocks and Red Sex Link hens at the Co-Op AG place in Echo Bay. Hope that helps. Dunno what the zoning laws are though.

    I'm planning on having some meat birds and a few layers this summer at my fishing lodge. I am on an island, so predators are not a problem...like bears or foxes etc. I do have birds of prey in the area, but they feed on the fish scraps from my fisherman, so hopefully that wont be a problem...

    Anyone around the North shore of Lake Superior? (Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. Marie) I am looking to raise birds in the coming summer but I am concerned about the challenges of our harsh climate. If anyone in the area has advice, experience or similar interest, please get in touch with me.
