I have 2 buff orpington hens bothe going i to their secon summer. One has now started to do a loud crow at sunrise(5am) about 3 times a week. We live in town and have close neighbours. How can i stop her from doing this?
So far the one we originally had with the Austerlorp is very quiet. Even when laying. I can say the new one didnt wake me up at 530am like the Austerlorp did so thats a bonus. She seems "talkative" but not "screaming to the sun at 530 am" lol
I have 2 black sex-link hens or red rock hens as i was told they were but research tells me i should be calling them black sex-link lol.
Im wondering about how they are? We had a Austorlorp before but she was very loud so we gave her back and got the black sex-link.
Update for everyone. I talked with the person we got her from. She is half Austerlorp and will probably not get much quieter as its part of the breed. We will be bringing her back and trading for a quieter town friendly hen.
So last night i tarped the coop to keep the sun out. I also put golf balls in the boxes. She isnt sitting on the ball but she is quiet till i lift the tarp. Although once that tarp came up she did her squeeee sque sque sque thing

Thats what i feared. Wish i could post the video of it making the sound. My husband messaged the guy he got them from and i think we might be able to bring it back and get a different hen
I got two chickens about 4 days ago. One has been laying since the day after we got her. The other has not. This morning myself and unfortunately one of my neighbours were woken up by a loud sqeeeeeeee sque sque sque sque at 5:30am. The one girl is in her box doing her thing and the non layer is...
