Quail chick has spraddle leg, nothing is working

I can't really tell the difference. The chick's bad leg and foot is pretty unresponsive, but it bends at the top normally, if that makes sense.

Quail chick has spraddle leg, nothing is working

Nope, but the other chicks seem to be doing fine, this one just developed it one day. How do I supplement, and what if I over supplement the healthy ones?

Quail chick has spraddle leg, nothing is working

I've recently hatched quail chicks, and one of them has developed spraddle leg three days ago. Before, the chick was fine, but now the left leg is sticking out weirdly, and the chick hops around on the right leg, dragging the other leg around. I've tried a lot of solutions, like bandaging the...

Preventing salmonella and bacteria spreading to vegetable garden?

Apologizes if this is the incorrect place to post this. I live in the city and my yard space is rather small (around ~150 square feet or so). I was thinking of getting quail and they'll be confined to a run. However my family does own a vegetable garden, and I'm worried if quail waste will be...

    Building my quail house!

How many quail could comfortably live in there? Do they mostly stay on the ground or will they fly?

    Building my quail house!

I mean by slide it under the deck so the birds stay dry and warm

    Building my quail house!

Bottom material would be wood, but I’m not sure how it would hold up with all the moisture. I did think about staining it or covering with a exterior paint. I did research into Suntuf but the groves in their roofing seems kind of confusing. I really would want a larger house that comes in...

    Building my quail house!

Hello! I will be raising Coturnix quail for the first time this summer, and I'm currently planning out their house. I created this thread to post updates, and get insight from the community. I've never done woodworking, so if any experienced builders could give me some feedback on my sketch...

    Quail questions

If you end up getting hatching eggs, you're going to wind up with males and you will have to either cull some of them or rehome them. Or you can breed the males and females together (keep a breeding ratio) for more eggs, and try your hand at incubating them for more females. From my research...

How to keep run dry but still let sunlight in

Will these materials reflect sunlight and burn the quails (sort of like how a magnifying glass can reflect light?)

How to keep run dry but still let sunlight in

Hi, I am planning out my quail run. The dimensions are 5 feet x 10 feet x 2 feet. The reason being is that I need to be able to slide it under my porch during the snowy winter months, and I don't have the space for a taller, more permanent structure. During the summer, I won't be able to move...

    Quail questions

I agree with the "raising quail on the ground" thing that many people suggested. If you're concerned about waste building up, look into doing a deep litter system. Also, if you don't have access to land to keep the quails on, you can make an elevated enclosure (what I'm planning to do) and have...

    Quail Aviary 2.0

@le_bwah Under the assumption that you'll be using a deep litter system for your new aviary (correct me if I'm wrong!) how would you add new litter in or mix it up when the grasses fill in?

    Quail Aviary 2.0

Late to the party, but wow @le_bwah your quails are so lucky! When I set up my quail enclosure I want to do something similar but much shorter. I especially like the muhly grass - it gives kind of a desert vibe of sorts. This is an helpful thread, especially for planting ideas. Originally I...

    Ideal quail cage setup?

Thanks for the deep litter recommendation! After a bit more research, it seems a lot more beneficial compared to wire bottoms. I'm definitely going this route because I want the best for my quails.
