Hi, I am planning out my quail run. The dimensions are 5 feet x 10 feet x 2 feet. The reason being is that I need to be able to slide it under my porch during the snowy winter months, and I don't have the space for a taller, more permanent structure. During the summer, I won't be able to move the run under my porch because it will be blocked by climbing bean plants.
Due to the short height, if I use a solid roof, sunlight will only reach the sides, while the inside will be completely dark. If I use a hardware cloth roof, I don't want the bedding to get wet and muddy (I will be using a deep litter system). What should I make the roof out of, to keep water out and let light in? Or instead of making one big run, should I make several smaller runs? Thanks.
