So far I only have 1 chick hatched, no pips on the others. 24 hours after first hatch. When should I move her over? Will it being shocking to her system to go from a 99.5 degree humid incubator to a 95 degree dry brooder? Especially if she’s alone? I has the brooder holding steady at 95...

I’m still not sure. Here’s some pics of dad (Chewy) and mom is probably a buff Orpington. Chewy died suddenly from an accident and I was sad so incubated a few of his possibly fertilized eggs.

I honestly don’t know. Daddy was a rescue and we were told silkie, but I do not know the diff and I’m guessing the people who surrendered him didn’t either. I will google some picks to see if I can tell. Thank you for responding

I have a day-old silkie cross (hopefully the rest will hatch today). My vet recommended Mareks vaccine. Is the dose the same for silkie’s (I think the standard is 0.2 ml)? She’s pretty tiny. I want to make sure she’s protected, but not overdo it.

I’ve always had my eggs laying horizontally (self turning). I just got a new incubator that has instructions and spots for small end down. Does anyone have opinion/information on which produces better results (more healthy hatches)?

Ok. Thank you so much for responding. She is eating and drinking, warm and dry. She began panting so I removed her from the heat and put her on her regular flake bedding. She has water and water with chicken vitamins and electrolytes and food
