This is a very late post to this thread, but...
Pickin Chickens app from Mother Earth News is great fun if you're shopping for new breeds. I have chickens and I still use it to dream about more chickens.
Hello BC! It's great to see a BC thread here. I'm also in central BC, with a mixed flock of Silver Laced Wyandottes, Barred Plymouth Rock, Ameraucanas, EE/OEs, Welsummers, and Chanteclers. I couldn't just get 1 breed; I really want some of everything! I have 21 chickens now and will probably...
I just brought home a 1 week old chick with similar dried goop over the eyes. I separated the chick right away and the chick has managed to get the crust off its eyes, but it still looks a little goopy. The chicks doesn't seem to be having any respiratory issues and is eating/drinking...

Thanks, everyone, for your warm welcome! I am really excited to start this new adventure. We just picked up a few supplies (litter, chick feeder, and feed). Our chicks will be here near the end of April, so I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but I just can't wait! I'm looking...
I'm looking forward to getting my new chicks at the end of April. I'm hoping for a mixed flock of Speckled Sussex, Chantecler, Ameraucana, and some kind of Wyandotte. I'm starting with about 15 birds and plan to cull the roosters in the fall to leave us with a nice laying flock. This is our...
