Yes, she and another peahen just showed up may 30th, eggs were laid July 13th. Before she laid the eggs they both would come and go in the back yard. They would both return in the evening to roost in our trees. Thanks again for the advice. Any additional info is greatly appreciated. This is all...

Thank you for the variety of topics. Although my main concern I guess is should I intervene if the eggs actually hatch? She 'appeared' in my yard (along with another female) on May 30th.

Okay, I need some information. My peahen Gordy has been sitting on 3 eggs since July 13th, which means by August10th we should start seeing some signs of hatching, right? iF they hatch, what do I need to do? Her nest is in my fenced in back yard, safe from predators.

That is what mine is doing.....she is off the nest just long enough to eat and drink. I will take your advice and put a water bowl near her nest. North Texas does get hot! Thanks again for the information.

Yes. We have left information at the local feed store regarding our two guests. They said no one has been looking for/ or reported any missing peahens. I will get a good pic of them tomorrow and post it. Believe me I would love to find the owner. But I feel obligated to care for them especially...

Sorry to be a pest, but we found a PEST over 3ft long in our peahen nest....a SNAKE! It had one of the 4 eggs already swallowed and had its mouth on a second! We 'took care of it'....what can I do to repel snakes? Our peahen Gordy is sitting the nest again.....! Sandra

I will let her sit the eggs for 28-30 days OR until she decides not to sit them.....whichever comes first I guess?! Thank you for the info about not disturbing her. I just looked back and they first appeared in our yard on May 30th. I guess I need to contemplate either finding a permanent...

Thanks for your reply. I am very flattered that they chose our yard. So far the neighbors are pleasantly surprised about our guests. The two gals visit other yards especially when there is a lawn being mowed! They actually take pictures of them!

Thank you so much for your replies. I have contacted the local feed store and bought some grain scratch as per their recommendation. I will definitely get some oyster shell as you suggest. If there has been no definite signs of a male , the eggs will most likely not be fertile, correct? How...
