    Someone on here suggested to use the wood ashes from my woodstove, DE (food grade) and some soil. My girls absolutely love it!

    I have a wood burning stove in my basement and typically just dump the ashes out in our outdoor burn pit when we clean it out. Would it be okay to give them to my chickens instead so they can dust in it? Just wondering if anyone has done this or heard of it being done? Thanks! :)

    I sure hope your girl is better today. I lost my girl (Ethel) last night.... I honestly think she had an impacted crop.

    I'm going to be following this thread because my Silkie, Ethel is showing the same symptoms as yours! I figured it might be an impacted crop, but it doesn't really seem like it. Like yours, mine went broodyone day and has never laid an egg for the last couple months either. I really hope...

    2 eggs from 11 hens....... still waiting on 7 to start laying. Have been getting 4 out of 11, but my two silkie girls took the day off.
