I believe s/he is about 6 weeks old now? Not completely sure. I've read that Brahmas are easier to sex when they're small but from picture guides...I'm still confused! Maybe some of you could be a little more helpful :)
I found this nice little forum posting: http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php?topic=26745.0
I'm trying to compare the tails on that pullet brahma to mine. Mine has a bit more of a tail than the roo she shows. The wing coloring matches up but the rest of my chick has those stripes going down...
From what I have read, the EE's are the ones that are more brown. Real Ameraucanas are hard to come by apparently! But I'm not as well versed as some people on these forums. I have read that these girls take a while to lay but I feel like I've been waiting FOREVER! I got her as a chick at about...
I've had this hen since February and she still doesn't lay. Definitely not a rooster -- no crowing, no rooster signs. Is this usual behavior? My other two girls lay -- one is two weeks older and the other is about 4 weeks younger. I'm not up to date on breeds but I'm pretty sure she's an EE and...
I agree! S/he looks like a mix of a few pictures I've found. I already have one mystery hen...so what's another? :) I love the coloring though. The legs do look thick. I tried the only sexing test I know where you hold it by the back of the neck and watch it kick/go limp. This one went limp so...
I've had my barred rock girl for about a year now. She's the sweetest chicken in all of my tiny flock (4 girls). She'll often come sit next to me when I'm outside and even falls asleep on my lap at times. She's like a feathered cat! She's so docile and loves to be held and pet.
From the day she...
Same for me, tinamommy727! My girl is definitely a hen and she is the same age as my barred rock who has been laying for about 2 months now. I'm trying to be patient but I want to see what color her eggs will be!
Hi guys!
I stopped by my local feed store yesterday and they'd gotten a batch of these cute little ones in and I could not resist. The owner of the store was not in and the only kid there was not positive on the breed. He told me araucana but I'm not positive. S/he has slightly feathered legs...
She is not very large. My biggest is my barred rock (who is now my avatar). This hen is a little bit tall but she's not very fluffy. I've seen a few bantam chickens and I'd say she's bigger than the ones I've seen (though I'm sure it varies from breed to breed). If I could get all the girls...
The woman I bought her from breeds multiple breeds...possible she could be a cross breed of some sort? I've seen so many that look like her and its hard to narrow down!
