Black copper marans x Cuckoo marans

I bred my BCM roo to a Cuckoo Marans hen and as predicted the Cuckoo was a cockerel and the blacks are hens. My question, Will the Cuckoo cockerel bred to a Cuckoo hen now give all Cuckoo chicks?

Tan Chau Bantam (in Viet Nam)

Beautiful birds. I have a white rooster with a similar tail, he is one of my favorites and always gets noticed. Yours is much prettier. Thank you for posting these.

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Hi, As you can see I am far behind in my reading of this great thread. Anyway, I have my chickens in dog kennels and for roofing use the old barn style heavy, wavy, corrugated metal. I got mine from posts on Craigslist. I answered posts and put one under Wanted. I usually pay $5.00 per...

Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Quote: I'll go out and get pics. They are probably 7-8 months now. At the time they were hatched the roos were of unknown breed. I suppose they could have had white in their background. I no longer have them. Anyway, I will go get pics now and be back in a few. So much for that Idea, my...

Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Hi, I really like my Delawares. They were one of the first chickens that I bought. I had a strange thing happen. One hen hatched 2 eggs--wonder she could do that as she and another hen kept "fighting" over who was going to set the eggs. Anyway, the two chicks both were cockerels. One very...

Quote: Problem with hawks is usualy seasonal here in No CA. When they migrate may see many at one time. I have a lot of grape vines and although most are free range their coop doors are open and covered and they go inside. As far as I know only one bantam has been taken by a hawk. Susan

    Tylan 50 Injectables question

Quote: If the antibiotic in question is Tylan, I doubt humans would get it injected into the muscle either. It says right in the instructions that come with it that it causes permanent muscle damage. There are limits on how much per injection site for swine. For the two or three times in 10...

    Tylan 50 Injectables question

Hi All, I have some chickens that have the "sniffles". Tractor Supply here is out of Tylan 50 but has Tylan 200 in stock. Can Tylan 200 be used? and if so what would the dosage be? Thanks, Susan

Quote: You might want to try calling the Oregon University of Veterinary Medicine. I don't know about there; but, here in CA I have called and received advice without having to bring my animal in to the clinic. The idea of binding the wing and putting her in a small carrier sounds pretty...

Quote: Wow, I won't complain about the wasps around here anymore. The stings reall do hurt and one wasp will sting more than once--I know. I have been stung on 3 separate occassions. The last time the little bugger got me on both arms at least twice. Both of my arms swelled up--looked like...

Quote: Yeah Randy, What beautiful colors on that Roo. I really like the gold/orange/mahogany blending of colors. Kind of like a shimmering sunset :-) His feathers look iridescent ! The girls are purty :-) Are the neck feathers a mahogany color? In the front hen they look like it but...

:-) I won't call you Randy Rooster. LOL I just looked to see what Wheaten Marans look like. I really think the color is great. Have you posted pictures of yours? I went out to get a picture of Randy Roo but the light wasn't right. I'll try again later.

" I have a cement slab from an old barn. I'm going to put the poultry barn on that, 20'x40'. Then off three sides will be the runs, almost encircling the building. There will be a 4' roof overhang on the 3 sides over the runs. Inside, I will have individual pens down both long sides, and an...

I have really heavy duty wind and rain from the South and North here. Plastic would just get torn to pieces after a while with the sun and wind. What I have done is either put the plastic up first and put plastic lattice over it or just attached the plastic to the lattice and put it up. Keeps...
