    Thank you for your suggestion! My hubby gave her a bath yesterday (I was at work) not sure what all else happened as of yet, (he is still sleeping because he works nights) but our happy girl is cruising about like business as usual again! No apparent stress of her vent!

    One of our sweet hens had a prolapsed vent a few days ago. We cleaned with warm water and treated lightly with Witch Hazel. I did end up having to press the prolapse back in and it has remained inside since. She seemed to take it all well. Behaving normally eating, drinking, roosting etc. We did...

    My hens let our chicks die!

    What is happening?! We had two Chanteclers and a Golden Laced Cochin that have been setting on a total of 7 eggs laid from them, 2 Ameriucanas, a white laced cochin, and a Barnvelder.... The Golden Laced hatched and protected 1 chick, the 2 Chanteclers appear to have just let the other 5 hatched...

    Hi all, We are first time chicken owners. We got 12 birds the beginning of June, 2 Blk Jersey Giants, 2 Chanteclears, 2 Wynndotts, 2 White Laced Cochins, 1 Golden Laced Cochin and 1 Barnvelder, @ 8 weeks old. And 2 Ameriucanas @ 4 weeks old. We expected the older birds to begin laying...
