    The Olive-Egger thread!

In other news, Sweet Cheeks just laid her first egg today at 5 months old. To our surprise it looks more blue than green.

Checksy is the one on the right with no beard. I guess she'll never get one.

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Is it common to have Easter Eggers that do not develop their beards? I know they are mutts, so I am not totally surprised, just am not that familiar with these "breeds". For fun here is another picture of "Sweet Cheeks".

    The Olive-Egger thread!

I hope this isn't too off topic, the thread seemed to be a good place to ask my question. Do bought my first EE's about 4 months ago and think they are so beautiful. However, one of them hasn't gotten a beard yet. Do you think it ever will? Her sister got her beard months ago.

Adding first Rooster to established Egg Laying Flock - Buff Orptingon named Sunny Boy

Update on Sunny Boy. He is doing great now and has his crow and control of the flock include three additional BR's. He never shows aggression to my kids or any people, but he won't really let us near him, which is sad because he looks so cuddly. All in all, after 4 more months from my first...

Can i eat a sick chicken

I was wondering the same thing, but the first thread I found about this topic was not informative, just a bunch of people saying what they would do, no facts. The question, that is really being asked is, will I get sick if I eat a sick bird. I have a BR hen right now who is lethargic and...

    Chicken Breed Focus - Delaware

Nice, Pretty Girl. I have a mixed flock with one Delaware named Sparkle. She is actually the Alpha girl in our flock. She is vocal and demanding, but also secretly enjoys it when we pick her up and scratch under wings.

Adding first Rooster to established Egg Laying Flock - Buff Orptingon named Sunny Boy

Sunny Boy aka Sunshine is a 6 month Old BO. Our girls were already 1.5 years old when we got him and this is our first Rooster. He is still discovering his own talents and right now is still getting beat up by all the girls. He is pretty much afraid of everything, but he is getting more...

Need help Gendering 4 week Old Chicks ~ RIR

Unfortunately, the hutch I was keeping these chicks in was not as predator proof as I thought. A raccoon was able to pull their legs out of the 1" mesh and bite them off. All but the Red headed pullet we killed. I ran outside just in time to scare the coon as it had her in its clutches...

    Barred Rock thread!!

This is my 1 year old BR named Choo-Choo. I have had a few other barred rocks also and they are a fantastic all around breed; great egg layers and a great pets. I have not yet eaten one, so I can not speak to the meat quality.

Is this normal for a Rhode Island Red / "Hatchery Red"?

OK, cool thank you. Out of the three reds I chose, that is the one which I am confident is a pullet, so glad to hear she may actually be within the correct breed.

Need help Gendering 4 week Old Chicks ~ RIR

I got 4 chicks from a straight run and I would like some help gendering 1 of them. Ranger is obviously a rooster, but I just can't tell about Flappy since its comb is not as developed as ranger and it's tail seems to go up instead of down, yet Flappy's comb is much larger than the obvious...
