    Failure to thrive

Hubby absolutely will not leave feed out for them. They definitely aren’t malnourished though. I don’t have any pics right now.

    Failure to thrive

Because hubby thinks they over eat. They definitely still go to bed with full crops for the most part because we have 2500 square feet in their run and also let them free range in the evening. She normally walks a little wonky but can get around. She seemed much better this evening.

    Failure to thrive

I have a Wellsummer chick who is about 16 weeks old. her legs have always been a little wonky. She is getting weaker it seems. I think maybe she isn't getting enough food because we don't keep food out all day long. I have her separated and I gave her half a dropper of poly vi sol. Do you know...

Chicken is sick and may have ingested pesticide. What can I do?

The bantam is about 12 weeks. The other is a full grown hen. We have quite a few red chickens so I am not sure which one she is to know when we got her. Hubby just saw about charcoal and tried to give her some with food and water but she didn’t take any. Maybe we will try to force feed some in...

Chicken is sick and may have ingested pesticide. What can I do?

So a week or so ago my husband sprayed some pesticide in some different places. Now we have a chicken and a bantam that is acting poorly. Not moving much or eating much. I am not sure if they will die or not but thought maybe someone knew of something we could do to help them. It seems weird it...

Just feeding chickens scratch feed & cracked corn.

My husband says in the old days all they fed chickens was scratch so he doesn’t want to feed them anything else. I did convince him to feed them pellets in the winter but we also don’t leave food out all day long. They get fed a small amount in the morning and then a little bit around 4 pm when...

    Hen stealing the nest.

Have you had any success with letting the mama and chicks in with the flock? They have around 2500 sf for 33 chickens, 5 of which are roosters. We usually let them free range from about 4:30pm till dark. We do have the pen split in two with a door between when we added onto the run. So the two...

    Hen stealing the nest.

My one hen keeps stealing my other hens nest. I am not sure how she kicks the original broody out or if she steals it when the other leaves it but sometimes this is happening multiple times a day. We already had one hen hatch out babies and they are separate but right now we have 2 hens on nests...

Broody hens a few weeks apart

So we had our first broody hen and she hatched out 5 of the 10 eggs. We added 4 other chicks under her to get 9. We put her and the babies in a separate pen. They are 1.5 weeks old. My question is another hen just started sitting on eggs. If she hatches them out the chicks will be about 4-5...
