So update. They are all Pullets & Hens. The crowing is one of the 4 year old hens for sure. Luckily she only dies it 2 days a week and never before 6 am. Crazy but grateful I don't have a Roo in my babies!
So update. The crowing is starting between 7 & 8 am which seemed odd. Yesterday at the first crow I ran to the window & the only 1 I could see that was possible was our 4 year old RIR Hen, Red, that stopped laying about 8 months ago.
We started to wonder then this morning same thing. About...
Well its good to know Vader & Luna are safe. Those 2 are the beloved of my hubby & chicken whisperer daughter. It'd kill them to lose either of them.
I understand the wondering with Captain. We've wondered lots about if it's awkward teens or late blooming RIR Rooster.
I'll get better...

Jules is tricky to get pictures of & honestly have a hard time in pictures deciding if it's Jules or C3PO darker back feathers change in pictures based on light but here are the best 2 I have.
Let me know what more you need & I'll work on getting...
Thanks. S/He's the one we have wondered a little on but so similar to Jules (other same age Ameraucana) it's been hard to tell. I hate to have to get rid of any of them but no Roostern allowed in our city :(
Anyone able to help on these 5 on whether they are pullets or Cockrel? We recently had one start crowing but no clue which one. We have 3 inherited and 1 RIR stopped laying and I've wondered if the lack of laying has changed hormones and I'm hopeful it's her crowing! I know wishful thinking...
Thanks everyone! Such great info here. I've read so much on here for weeks, so finally joined. I just posted in the what gender area with some pictures hoping to get some experts help. I'll also join the state thread!
Thank you everyone!
We got 5 pullets on April 23 from the local farm store. The oldest was 2 weeks, youngest was 1 week. We had a cocka-doodle-doo start a few mornings ago. We need help seeing which one it could be! Also: we have 3 inherited hens. Only 2 are laying. 1 stopped laying about a year ago (RIR)...
I've been reading this forum for months & decided to join. I have 8 chickens in my backyard. 3 are inherited from my in-laws due to them moving and 5 are chicks we are growing. The grown hens are a RIR, a ophington & a Ameraucana.
Our chicks are: Black Sex Link (about 9 weeks), Blue...
