    Mating Season Bad Behavior Help

Hello! im making this post for a friend who reached out to me for some advice. She has one male pekin duck and one female pekin duck, who normally get along great but mating season has taken a physical toll on the female and she is super beat up on her body and neck from the male duck climbing...

Limping Female Pekin Duck - what should I do to heal her?

That is so good to hear that you feed them at night too. I started doing that in winter mostly to ensure they kept warm during the night so I wanted them to have a full belly for bedtime. I will have to check out that chart! It's tricky with poultry, unlike dog's and cat's who have feeding...

    Limping Duck, 8 months old

I have this same problem this year with 2 of my female Pekin Ducks! I also believe the culprit originally were my male pekin ducks "mating" so I have been keeping them separate for now during the peak mating season. Hoping that they will eventually back off my girls so they all can play...

Will ducks start laying in winter?

My young duck's laid in the winter still no problem. I do know the decrease in daylight can affect laying but I haven't experienced that yet with either my duck's or chickens. I live in Washington and we get sunshine 3 months out of the year if we are lucky. It's mostly cold, wet, and rainy...

I'm so sorry, I thought I didn't have any new notifications and then I went to read this thread and noticed there is new comments. I saw that someone mentioned she looks too fat, is that true? I don't personally know other people with ducks so all I know is my own experience and what I learn...

Limping Female Pekin Duck - what should I do to heal her?

I've heard of people using the standard brewers yeast on popcorn so that makes sense!! I couldn't find a nutritional brewers yeast at the store and I looked for it at the feed stores we have here locally but no luck. I'll have to order it online I think - any brands you recommend to use or avoid?!

Limping Female Pekin Duck - what should I do to heal her?

Her eggs seem to be OK and we currently feed her layer crumble by Nutrena, and once or twice a week we give them black oil sunflower seeds and/or scratch feed. We also supplement crushed oyster shells/coral/granite mixture and offer that daily for them to eat as they please. I keep their water...

Limping Female Pekin Duck - what should I do to heal her?

Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day. So I previously had a duck pass away after she had been limping/immobile for a few weeks out of the blue. I came home and she was passed away laying by the coop with the other ducks and it was really heartbreaking. Now I have another one of my...

Hen's face not looking normal (pics included) help!

Thank you so much for your reply! Unfortunately in my area I have tried contacting every vet I know of and none can help with poultry. Well after I posted this I went and picked her up and she definitely was sprayed by the skunk. I used a first aid saline eye wash to rinse her eye's out well...

Biggish coop, few birds, will it stay warm enough?

That is the type of coop I personally have, but our winters don't drop too low regularly in Washington state. Usual temps are 20-50 degrees depending on the month in Winter.
