    Chocolate Marans

Actually we have, but it won't be available for some time, maybe two or more years, as we want to get the egg color and body conformation right before we do and make sure that it continues in future generations. We never even realized this idea had been bounced around already, but as an earlier...

    new ducks

I love our ducks. They are just as much fun to watch as the chickens and they all get along together. I can not say that for the times that we tried to raise turkeys and geese with our flocks. That didn't work out too well. Enjoy your new friends.

    Egg color changed ?

It is perfectly normal for eggs to lighten during the laying cycle. I believe it has to do with how fast the egg travels through the oviduct. When our Maran eggs lighten, they are just as dark again during the next laying cycle, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Ours is using tissue, then bubblewrapping each egg, and then a box within a box filled with shredded paper. It seems...

Question on breed of chicks I got..

I can say with certainty, that none of these are Barred Rocks. If I had to guess, and with all the breeds and at this stage, it is only a guess, I would say a White Leghorn, Gold Laced Wyandotte and maybe a Buff Orpington, but the one that appears yellow, if it has reddish tint, could be a red...

What brooder and what wattage for heat lamp?

I have seen lots of people use a tote to raise baby chicks. With 4 to 6, you should be good for at least 4 weeks, though you may need to consider putting a screen over the top to keep them from flying out as they get bigger. You do not necessarily need to use a heat lamp, especially if you are...
