No egg shell and mildly lethargic

How old is she? A year this spring so about a year and a half now. How long has she been laying? 8 months or so. Not too sure. What kind of feed are you feeding? Right now because I have two younger birds that aren't laying age I am feeding Gower pellets but I have oyster shells available.

No egg shell and mildly lethargic

Today I had an egg without a shell. I know this happens when the hen doesn't have enough calcium. I've added more oyster shells in the coop to rectify the issue and provided some plain yoghurt. My concern is that one hen was milfky lethargic. Not eating her favourite food (corn) and not too...

Introducing new hens to a flock with one bird being aggressive

Hello I have plenty of hideouts... I put a closed dog crate inside the Run so this creates a barrier. I also have stumps and milk crates. The only space where they're modeling closed is in the coop which I have opened the whole side so so there are two entrances and exits. The only dangerous...

    Pullet or Cockerel?

This is my first time with a silver laced Wyandotte and I'm wondering if somebody can tell me whether I have a pullet or a cockerel! She's supposed to be a poet but after I purchased her and got her home the breeder said it was really hard to tell so she couldn't be certain. I'm not allowed to...

    Introducing chickens

I live in Canada so it's pretty cold here right now we're we're getting some days in the thirties but our nights are still dropping to just below double digits. Right now my heat light is turned off for them but I bring them inside at night due to the drop in temperature. The chicks have little...

    Pullet and hens food integration

Thank you so much for the information. Switching my laying hens to a grower ration wouldn't hurt them? Does it have all the vitamins and nutrients they need to make an egg? I'll look into an all flock ration. None of my local feed stores have mentioned that.

    Pullet and hens food integration

Hello I'm new to the chicken community and I have I a rather small flock, four hens to be exact. I started my chicken flock when I found a chicken in the woods, believe it or not, so I rescued her. There are no forms in the community and when I call the SPCA conservation in my area they said it...
