    Thank you both for your comments. She certainly doesn't feel like she had a compacted crop, it feels empty like a pingpong ball compared to her normal tennis ball sized full crop. Probiotics is a good idea, I was going to get yogurt today, but couldn't find any plain. I'll try again tomorrow...

    I am so so sorry for your loss. That is the strangest thing I've ever seen! Poor poooor hen. Also glad to know that I'm not the only one that has cut into a dead chicken to find out what was wrong, but it sure is sad when you DO find what was wrong.... It makes it a lot more emotional for me...

    I thought the chalky yellow poo from mine was yolk, but the vet told me it was actually bile ...from not eating much.
