    straw as bedding?

    The question is, will it be getting wet? I've tried so many different things and have decided a layer of 2" sand topped with straw is my favorite. I have sand and wood chips outside the coop/run and aesthetically, I don't like it when they kick the pine shavings out all over the ground outside...

    Awww. I just bought a second coop today and hope to have a broody sit on her own eggs. I read all the incubator threads and they stress me out. I'm letting mama do all the hard work. That is so cute!

    How do I prevent roosting?

    Have you thought about wing clipping? My ladies were escaping their confines so I finally bit the bullet and did a little clip clip. I was freaked out to do it, but it ended up no big deal at all. Your problems could be solved in about 10 minutes with a sharp pair of scissors.

    I think it will be hellishly heavy. I'm hoping to have a team ready to move it for me. Once it place, it will stay there. The blue behind the cut-outs is actually stained glass, which is neat, but your idea might be right on track. It wouldn't take away from the design element. Thanks!
