One of my hens has an open wound to the back of the neck. She appears to be okay she is eating and drinking water. She is separated in a crate with the food and water. I have petroleum jelly for that but what else should I do?
Thank you for all your responses. My hen did pass, unknown cause. I am extra careful with the last 3 hens. They appear very healthy and full of energy.
We have had our hens now for over a year. One of them had recently gotten bad diarrhea and was treating all with probiotics and apple viniger in their drinking water. Things were looking better but she took a turn for the worst and I don't believe she will pull out of it. Now she just sits...
I have 5 Light Brahmas hens that have been good layers. We went out of town for over a week and had them cared for by some of our friends. Even before we left we've seen a dramatic drop in eggs. Now we have been back for a week and the hens are not laying at all. None!
Please help, need...
Just recently one of my hens starting all this cackling... It appears she wants to lay an egg but cannot. Is there something I can do and should I leave her alone? She is eating and drinking. She will stop cackling for a while and follow around with the other hens in the yard. Please advise.
I had given up using the bucket with the red nipple for watering my hens. Most of the hens would not use it and were always thirsty. So I am back with the gallon jug, have been for some time now. Should I abandon the idea of using the bucket or is there something I can do to train the hens?
