First of all here are the babies that were mentioned up above. They are doing fine and are growing fast. The picture above was taken not long after both were hatched. I think I decided to name them Fettuccine (black) and Alfredo (Brown).
Secondly, I had nine other eggs that were due to hatch...
I wasn't sure so I put it back with momma hen and she pecked it if it got to close to her and the other eggs. Do you think she doesn't want her because I held her to much? Or is this normal for a momma hen to abandon a chick? (She is a first time brooder).. i have her in a box in my room with...
I had an other hen go broody and seperated her from the others and placed all the eggs under her plus a few more. I went to check today and one was hatching... I can't wait... I can't help it can I?
I'm still new, but I think your hen is broody. I've heard that not all hens have that "gene" but I have one that broods and she does it off and one for about a month at a time. Sorry if I'm not much help, but I thought I'd tell you what I do know. Good Luck

So roughly two weeks ago, I left two eggs under my...
Besides the coloring, it looks similar to my rooster, he holds his tail like yours does. I think mine started crowing about two months in, but that was after I played him the sound of another rooster crowing... I'm still knew but just thought I'd give you my two cents!
We just started getting eggs a week or two ago. Please keep in mind that before this summer I knew nothing about chickens at all except we got eggs from them. LOL. Anyway, my questions are:
Is there a way to tell which egg(s) come from which hen? (Especially if you have different types of...
Below are pictures of her back end. I just noticed this today when she stretched her wings. When I got closer I found the broken off feathers and sores (shown below). There is one lump time thing right underneath those little feathers close to her tail feathers in the first picture ( the sore...
So is Rocki an Easter Egger? and Will we have problems with having two roosters? Saturn is our other rooster and They have all been together since I got them except for Spirit and Lil' Red.... I hope we don't have to get rid of a roo
