Luckily, my duck started feeling a lot better yesterday and came outside most of the day and was eating more and drinking more. Poultry vitamins also arrived yesterday so we dropped a bit of that in her mouth. Obviously, we will still keep and eye on her as we do not know what might happen.
Currently as we know of, she is only drinking. She is mostly in the house so I haven’t been able to find a poop which is definitely hers. In the morning yesterday she was scavenging in the ground for bugs and etc but she went in the house soon after.
What do you mean by this? (Not trying to be rude, sorry if it sounds rude) Do you mean that I drop some drips between her mouth, in her mouth, on top of her bill, below her bill??
Will try and do but she tries to escape when we try to hold her or touch her so for the most part we will just be adding the vitamin boost to the water. Apparently under 'stress' conditions which I would say is now, I should add 5ml to 1L of water.
She is around 1 year and a half old. She has been laying for months, even though breeding season is over. She has laid around a week ago, she is quite inconsistent. She does drink however definitely not as much. Her diet is made from duck pellets mostly and vegetables such as tomatoes, cabbage...
My female mallard duck has been quite lethargic for the last few days. She stays in her house often even though she usually comes outside and strolls in the garden, and she has less movement than normal and she doesn't seem to be eating much food. Her egg shells are soft. We don't have any male...
One of my hens have been laying soft eggs often for quite a while now and has not been molting. Because of this we have bought Oyster shell supplement for her. I have heard from somewhere that Nettex Vit Boost is also useful but I do not know if it would work on our ducks or if it is safe for...
I asked about food just in case as he has spent his life domestically. However, he did forage by digging holes even though no one taught him so I guess you were right @MasterOfClucker about retaining natura instincts.
Luckily the area is fenced off, Mallards retain wild instincts as you said so I’m guessing they would be more wary about predators than more domestic species. He can also fly really well as I saw him flying into the pond.
