Hi! my goose lost her mate this last summer... she is almost a year old... i found a gander that is the same age as her, im picking him up today. will they be inclined to fight? my goose is in with a flock of 8 hens and to roos... whats the best way to introduce him?
ok!! that would be exciting if thats all it is... yesterday i got the whole coop cleaned out, and let them back outside. i had them locked in the coop (its actually a very small two stall barn) for the last week or so due to the coyotes getting so many of them... maybe the fresh air and cleaned...
I'm having tough luck with my batch of 25 barred and columbian rock hens.. they just started to lay this last week... and yesterday morning i noticed a rattling sound comming from a couple of the roosters, by the evening the whole flock is rattling and sneezing while theyre roosting... and have...
12 weeks... and yes they are Heritage Rocks... just interesting to me, since i ordered 2 barred and 2 columbian roosters, all the rest have large combs and are very roosterish and mature looking... he is the only one that cant seem to grow a comb or other rooster features.. He also does not have...
so a while back i posted a barred rock chick that i was confused about. Well, I am still confused. The chick was mostly voted to be a rooster, with the idea being to post once 'he' is a little older... He was voted rooster because of his male barring pattern. So i have him beside my rooster...
Thankyou! I think that is precisely the answer im looking for! I always wondered if thats how they used to do it back in the day, we surely can do it that way now too! And i love using my slow cooker, so im thinking thats where the old hens will go🤪Thanks so much!
hmm... that might be a bit small, but you could try as long as they all have enough room to get around comfortably!! do your older chickens have a run so they can get out and stretch their legs if you divided off half of your coop?
i put my younger birds in a small fenced off area in the main coup for a week minimum to a month... this gets the older hens accustomed to seeing the young pullets every day... when i remove the fence the pullets seem to know thats their area, the hens wont bother them as much in that far...
