Sorry I have been missing-in-action, lately. Life tends to distract me from my computer. No worries, though...all is well with me and mine. The Ladies & The Girls are thriving, and now both of our French Black Marans (Bootsy & Barbarella) have begun laying their lovely brown eggs! WooHoo...
So much to catch up on...in due time. For now, the forecast has us getting into the low-30's at night. What are some good ways to winterize my coop? This is our 1st winter with The Ladies & The Girls.
Thank you. Bootsy, and her younger sister Barbarella, are big gals. Both were as big as my hens when we got them a couple of months ago...and they're still growing. Looking forward to seeing just how big Bootsy's (and, eventually, Barbarella's) eggs will get once they really get going.
I don't know her exact age, but I'd say she's around 6 months old. In my experience, they mature at different rates. Her sister Barbarella, in the pic, was supposed to be the same age as Bootsy, but she is slightly smaller and her comb isn't as developed/red. My other hens all started laying...
