    ALABAMA!!

My bantam hen has been sitting on some eggs for about a month. Didn't think the eggs were any good but SURPRISE! I found Momma and 2 little chics outside today. Checked the rest of the eggs and 1 has a chic in it that was moving around. And 2 more are possibly good. But the other 5- no good. Got...

    ALABAMA!!

Does anyone know any thing about feeding chickens store bought bird seed. Just trying to figure out things for the winter. Thought about making thos obird seed things with the grease. Of course they would still get plenty of chicken feed. Was looking at it as a way to keep them busy and as a...

    ALABAMA!!

We were obviously doing something wrong. They were 100% free range and 9 of the 12 decided to roost on my porch every night. Tried very hard to get them to roost in other places but it wasn't working. I thought I lost 2 last week, but it was only one. It still sucked though. Nobody in my house...

    Chickens for flea control.

I live in Alabama and the fleas are terrible. Especially in the spring and summer. I got my chickens in March. By April they were outside. Haven't spent a dime on flea meds or chemicals yet this year. And I haven't gotten bit at all. Haven't seen a single flea. I'm assuming it's the chickens...

    Chickens for flea control.

We purchased 12 chickens strictly to control fleas. To my amazement, it has worked like a charm. I would much rather spend the money on feed for my little fluffy butts than spend it on poison to treat my yard, my dog, my cats, and my home. Am I crazy?
