Thank you for the information! I ended up treating for gapeworm with fenbendazole, but the issue persists. Not sure if I should do another round at this point or switch gears and try to treat with Tylosin (which is unfortunately showing sold out...).
She had a very odd episode during which I...
We've never had any respiratory illness before, and haven't gotten any newbies yet as we're waiting to see what will happen with this gal and still working on the new coop. Her poops have been pretty watery here and there with some normal ones mixed in as well. I've noticed her coloring has been...
We did try looking down her throat and didn't see any obvious obstruction, but per some other threads I read through, I added some coconut oil in her mash just in case. Unfortunately the issue persists! A family member mentioned that perhaps she had some internal injury to her neck during the...
She also makes the noise with her regular feed, but seems to tolerate it better when I add a little water to the feed and mash it. Also, I just realized my second video isn't working - I'm attaching it again. It takes her a while to "recover" after she has one of these episodes and will gape for...
When she’s inside, the water dish is raised up and she still does it then unfortunately :( she ate a runny egg with no issues this morning but continues hiccuping mostly on water
Thank you for your reply! We do make sure nothing is pressing on her crop and I check every morning to see if it’s emptying, which it does appear to be emptying just fine. Her wounds are healing wonderfully, aside from a few attempts at picking. She even has new feathers coming in on her butt.
I...
A raccoon got into our coop almost exactly one month ago. Matilda is the sole survivor of the attack, but is still healing from wounds on her butt and under her wing. She has been eating and drinking normally up until about 2-3 days ago when she began making a honking/hiccuping noise while...
She seems to be doing much better! I did the Epsom salt bath and my wormer came in, she’s on the second day taking it. Her feathers seem much better, shes perked up, and she’s eating and drinking well but still having some loose stools, which I’m assuming now may just be the wormer. Thank you...
I haven’t, but I ordered a dewormer just in case this was the issue. Her droppings smell pretty foul, but I wouldn’t say yeasty. I have another hen and she is not displaying any of these symptoms, normal droppings etc. I really appreciate your help!
