Hi all :frow
I posted this in another thread, but I had missed that this was the official hatch along! Hope it's not too late to join in!
I set some guinea fowl eggs on the 7th of this month, so I'm looking forward to any early December hatch. I also put 2 chicken eggs in as well, so I might...
Hi all :frow
Hope it's not too late to join in!
I set some guinea fowl eggs on the 7th of this month, so I'm looking forward to any early December hatch. I also put 2 chicken eggs in as well, so I might just sneak in a hatch before this month is out!
I'm super excited, as it's been a few...
Thanks riverman
Removed the remaining keets and popped them under my broody, but unfortunately we lost most of them. The duck managed to squash 2 to death on the first night, and one went MIA from my rat / mice / snake proof cage.
Oh and I didn't forget that the hatch dates were different...
I had a duck sit on a bunch of random eggs. Some duck eggs, some guinea eggs and some chicken eggs! Turns out that the guinea eggs all hatched (I was suspect on the fertility of the chicken & duck eggs anyway).
Now the big question is, can the duck raise the keets, or will she try and drown...
It's quite possible.
What I'm wondering is - would the peacock exhibit different behaviours if his mate would gone as opposed to if she was hiding and sitting on a nest?
Would he be calling out very frequently and acting anxious searching for his mate if she had been killed? He is probably...
Hi guys,
I have had my peafowl for over a year now and this season (I'm in Australia) they have finally reached breeding age.
As soon as the season started, my Peacock moved from the back of my house, to the front verandah (to admire himself strutting about in the big windows). My peahen...
hi guys
Warming up the incubator for approx 40 guinea fowl eggs that I have just stolen from a nest outside! Not sure how old they all are, but what is the worst that can happen? I would say a few if the eggs would be over a week old, but they all look good and none are rotten.... so wish me...
My particular brand on incubator is a still air (no fan) and the manufacturers instructions say to run it at a temp of 103. The temp is taken at the same height as the top of the egg.... As hot air rises, the middle of the egg will actually be cooler than the top, which means that it will be at...
It's been a few months since I have logged in to BYC. I came to look for chicken pictures and within seconds of typing www.bac...... into my search bar I thought of you & Ken. My heart dropped when I realised I had been so consumed by my own life that I didn't think to stop in and congratulate...
Hi guys,
I have had a bad hatch. Shipped eggs and by the looks of things, high humidity.
Most chicks hatched with curled toes. After putting on chick booties for the past 2 days (taped feet) their toes have straightened out nicely!
The problem is... I have one or 2 chicks that have one...
Oh sweetlilbaby. Fingers crossed they are going to hatch! Maybe your temps ran a bit low? That can always cause a late hatch.
So far I have 12 that have hatched! But it isn't all good news from what I can see at this stage. Looks like a few have curled toes. They have curled toes, have hatched...
wow! Congratulations to everyone on their hatches so far & wonderful pictures I haven't updated in a while because I have been without the internet. Our local telephone exchange burnt down so the internet & all our phones have been out of action!
Any news yet sweetlilbaby?
I had 9 eggs in...
Oh cluckcluckluke poor you! You are having a tough run. That you get one more as a hatch buddy for your lonely chick at least!
7 out of the 9 eggs that my broody abandoned have pipped so far. They are on hatch day today! Can't wait for the little ones to get out of their shells.
The eggs from my broody (who quit) are on hatch day today! 7 out of the 9 eggs have pipped and there is lots of peeing to be heard and wiggling!!!! Now I'm anxiously waiting to see which little ones make it out
