We just got rid of our last chicken, so now the push is on to get our house ready to to be put on the market. Has anyone had an issues selling a house with a chicken coop? Or Realitors should i take it down? Is it going to take away from my home value?
14X20 Run, 8x7 coop in shed with plenty...
I water the chickens every morning and top off with warm water in afternoon. But I need to be away for 3 days and my neighbors are elderly and my friends work and family who might not be reliable. I was going to buy a heated dog bowl but I was weary after seeing it. Rather I put a large 2.5ft...
We introduced 4 egg laying hens into our flock, they are about 2.5 years old and laying great. We already have 9 mix breeds that are 6 months old that we have owned since they were 4 weeks. So when the "new" birds moved in they took OVER, everything, our birds are stuck outside, they are chased...
Build bigger then you need.We have a 20x12 we sectioned off for our 15 chickens. All of our lawn equipment and bikes and yard stuff fit in the shed also, so its a win win.
So our flock of 6 hens was slaughtered over the past 2 days. All attacks happened around 4am. I work a weird schedule so i dont get up till around 12 noon sometimes, so i dont want to keep the chickens locked up for hours and hours till i wake up. So im looking for a diy way to get their door...
Chickens were snowed in before i had to shovel them out. We got drifts around 4 feet and there is no where left to put the snow. At least the chickens got some treats.
Use a portable carport frame, works great for us. I used wired fencing for the bottom half and chicken wire for the top. We buried the wire fence about a foot down and have never had a predator get in.
If the chickens are eating right and not stressed, their poop will be solid and not smell as bad :)
This is he best method to collect the poop for use in the garden. We let our poop sit for a year and apply it to the garden soil in the spring.
We made poop boards under the roosts to collect the poop and we used excerise floor panels (foam floor tiles) on the floor and they do just fine. No straw or bedding. Very easy to scrape the poop and no bedding to buy. Poop goes right into our compost dirt.
