Need to understand my chicken behavior

I applied with a pest pistol. 1 squirtingeach side and 2 on floor. 1 squirting per egg laying section. I segregated the chickens from the coop at that time. I also used the pest pistol on the chickens. I sprayed it over the feathers.I gave a quick puff of the pistol for each.

Red Skin/ LOsing Feathers on Belly & Chest

I, too have a 9 month old Chicken, 1 of 10, that has this problem of missing feathers on back and abdomen and the Abdomen is red. I had to bring indoors during the last cold snap as -30 was too cold in my estimation and their current habitat while sufficient for them in normal times is too small...

    Wintering the chicken

I am concerned that the winter may cause an issue for the chickens as the coop I bought is low tot he ground with an equally low run, so I am making preparations now. We seem to get a lot of snow in Massachusetts and one good storm would cover the coop. It is about 3 feet high by 10 feet long. I...

How do I know if my chicken has an impacted Crop?

I am concerned because 2 of my chicks (age 3 months) seem to have swollen necks or they are purposely making their feathers arranged to make the neck look larger as some kind of dominance thing. I have noticed that they are at the age where they are fighting in the run for dominance and the...

    Chickens refuse to use coop

I need to know how to get my chicks to use their coop at night. They just went outside last week and they sleep under their coop, even when I place them into the coop. I cannot keep them in the coop on a 24x7 basis to "train them" as it is getting too hot here for that. I think I might do this...

    New to Chickens

Hi, I live in Massachusetts and am new to chickens, but we did the math and it is more cost effective to have chickens and feed them to obtain eggs than to purchase them from the store and in the end we will also have meat. My daughter mad about that. We are planning a flock of 30 birds semi...
