    Cold, Stiff baby rabbits.

Does anyone know anything about rabbits? I have two Californian and New Zealand White Cross. They have just had their first litter of kits. Five were born. One died within a few days. Yesterday I went out to check on them (They live in an outdoor enclosure - the doe dug a burrow - didn't want...

NO ELECTRICITY how can i incubate

I saw something about heating bricks in a fire...they maintain heat for a long time. It was being used to heat a greenhouse...maybe that's an option...wouldn't wanna cook them though so i guess i'd have to be careful.

NO ELECTRICITY how can i incubate

South Africa. I don't want my hens to sit on them...as mothers they are vulnerable to attack from a Caracal that often visits the farm...i've lost so many hens that way.

    Sick wild Egyptian Goose

Two mornings ago we found a female Egyptian Goose flapping around on the dirt road leading out of our farm. She doesn't seem to have any noticeable injuries but she can't walk and won't fly away. I've put her on a straw bed in my outside room away from my chickens in case she's sick and put...

    Just lost my favourite girl

I lost my favourite girl this morning. I've never been much of a bird person but when we moved onto the farm we had such a problem with ticks. I'd read that chickens were the solution. So I thought, 'Cool...pest control and free eggs...sounds simple enough.' Lol...boy was I wrong. I only...

    Hen was trampled by baboon!

So Gwen recovered well and has been back with the flock for about two months now. She's laying eggs again and is mostly back to normal. Having "fun" with the roosters and all that. Lol. Her balance is fine again and her vision seems good too. She still walks with her neck pulled back a little...

Chicks are eating finisher feed...is that ok

Wow...thanks for the very comprehensive reply...i appreciate the effort. My goal is eggs and the enjoyment of my chickens. They all free range including the chicks. We're on a huge farm so they have plenty to forage. I took a look at the label on the feed...not too sure how to read it but I...

Chicks are eating finisher feed...is that ok

So most of my flock of Boschvelder chickens are over six months old and i found this new feed store close by my home...they sell broiler finisher pellets in bulk so it works out sooooo much cheaper. Only now I have 10 new hatchlings running around with their mamma and when I throw food out for...
