Here is one of the blue copper roosters and the two welsummer hens. A dog got my third hen and took some tail feathers off one.
Will try to get some pics tomorrow, I picked up a blue copper hen and two black pullets as well. The hen is small compared to my welsummers. My wels. also lay some of the longest eggs, they barely fit in an egg carton.
I have a cross I aquired last year that is over a year old now. She is doing fine and pushes my welsummers around. She lays eggs bigger than my duck eggs (kahki and muscovey) and gets around fine for such a big bird.
I have three young welsummer hens and no rooster. After searching locally all I could locate were 2 blue copper maran roosters. Has anyone ever crossed marans and welsummers before? If so I would like to know the results.
My hens will fill up a nest untill a hen starts sitting and then the others will start filling up another nest box. I currently have two hens sitting on the same nest, have been for a couple of weeks now. They have about 20 eggs under them.
I used to have rouens and got rid of them because of the noise. I now have a runner and and some khakis. They are quieter and great layers. I also have a few Muscovy's and they are the quietest but aren't as good layers.

It is the responsibility of the person with the predator to determine the legalities of what they do and that person will take ultimate responsibility. BYC does not condone illegal acts.
Check your state laws, in many places it is legal to protect your livestock against predators. Also, try bottle rockets to deter them, your not trying to harrass them, just shooting fireworks.
What?????
The news report says it was killed with a pellet gun, not another gun!!!
The news report admits the dog was let loose to run, it didn't get away on accident!!!!
He is not lying about anything, he didn't give a statement, only the dog owner. HE called the police!!!
