Not that I can find anywhere, no. The Taylor one is calibrated, yes, and there have been a bunch of times today that the temps on the Taylor and ZooMed have matched, and right now the Taylor says 99.4 while the Zoomed says 99.7, and the built in Brinsea thermostat says 101.1. I'm more inclined...
I purchased a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced and am getting ready to hatch some eggs in it. The problem is, I am trying to make sure the temp stays consistently where I want it with back up thermometers... And I get three different temps?? Which do I trust?
I started out this week pretty bummed out because the incubator I saved up for arrived, and the eBay seller lied-- it wasn't brand new, and it wasn't in good condition either. I then put in all the work to get it working, cleaned it and put new parts in, and opened a dispute with eBay because it...
The poodle is Starbuck, and the pullet is Emma Wats-hen... But with each day Emma Wats-hen looks more like a John Wats-hen. :'( Most heartbroken chicken mama over here. We aren't allowed roos, and out of the nine supposed-to-be-pullets, so far 2 are roos for sure and 2 more are suspect. Darn it!!
Everyone is 6 weeks except for the 2 black copper marans chicks. They were all ordered pullets, but... You know, haha. :) Thanks for help and pointers!
Golden cuckoo marans, 6 wks
Buff Brahma, 6 wks
Probably an EE, 6 wks
Delaware, 6 wks (pretty sure roo)
Red... Something... Haha. 6 wks...
Thank you for all the condolences- she really was a great little hen and we miss her so!
The chick in my avatar is actually Emma Wats-hen, who I fear may actually be just plain Wats-hen. *Sigh*
I've cared for flocks of chickens before, both my friends' birds and the ranch I worked at. But my first real coop came with my first flock of my own. There's Falkor, a rather, erm, *special* salmon faverolle, Krist-hen Chenoweth the bantam, Idina Hen-zel and Meg RyHen the black sexlinks, Becky...
Yes, you're right. I spoke too quickly, I simply meant I love having variety and I already have a couple that will be laying very dark eggs. We had an EE at my old job that laid quite a wide variety of blues and greens, and another that even laid "pink" eggs. :) They're fun. Thanks for the advice.
Lol so now that I have a pretty good idea, I get predictions! ;) I kid, I do appreciate the help.
I had sent pictures of the chicks in before they got much feathering and asked for help IDing them, and those are the breeds I was told-- I'm fine with her being an easter egger though, I'd prefer a...
I have long perused the forums (what a wealth of information!) but only just am getting around to the "new member post" thing.
I am not entirely new to chickens-- I've cared for a friends while he was out of town, and I cared for a flock during my time working at a ranch, but this is my first...
Update! My chicks have grown, so I thought I would show you guys. :) I have a buff brahma, golden cuckoo marans, delaware, barnevelder, buckeye, and the little yellow chick is still a mystery so far.
Meyer has lower prices and lower shipping rates, especially when you order more than 15 chicks. So far I've had a good experience with my chicks from them-- I ordered 4 speckled sussex, 3 rare marans assortment (ended up being a golden cuckoo marans and 2 cuckoo marans), 1 silver laced...
