    Spring 2017 first timers post!

I currently have 15. Three are only a few days old, 2 are a year old, the rest are 4 months old. Right now both of my year olds lay 4-5 eggs a week each.My golden buffs are close to laying and I imagine the barred rock, buff Orpington, and australorp won't be too far behind. My EEs look like...

I've done lost my mind....I started with 15 chickens that I ordered from mypetchicken late December....rehomed 5 of them. Then got 2 more. I just ordered 3 more chicks because I somehow convinced myself that I needed olive eggers to get the full rainbow basket. Chicken math y'all....its a...

    Spring 2017 first timers post!

I heard one of mine crowing this morning...not quite sure who but I have two suspects in mind. I have to avoid all the feed stores right now because I'm afraid chicken math will kick in and I just know I'll somehow convince myself I need 2 or 5 or 10 more. LOL.

    Spring 2017 first timers post!

So between finishing the coop and trying to hire a new landscaper its been busy busy busy! All 15 of the chicks...

I am in the process of building our outside...

    Spring 2017 first timers post!

According to that feeding chart, I have pigs! I've gone through 5 pounds for 15 chicks the past 9 days. In fairness though, I did take out roughly a cup of feed to ferment and I was also using a cat saucer to feed them the first 4 or 5 days so there was a lot of spillage and wasted food so I'd...

    Spring 2017 first timers post!

I should add that I ordered my chicks from mypetchicken..but they came from meyer. I ordered 15 but am only allowed 6 where I live without a permit. I figured I'd order more than what I was allowed just incase some don't make it....but all 15 of mine are thriving and as healthy as can be. So a...

    Spring 2017 first timers post!

I agree that the hardest part is waiting to get shipping/tracking updates to pick up the fluffsters from the post office. As for brooding...it's been easy! My fluffsters arrived a week ago in the mail and I put them in a 50 gallon storage bin with a generic ecoglow. They run under it when...
