    Best place to buy pine shaving?

    I get mine from a cabinet shop for free. Shaving/chips are a bi-product that he has no use for and loves to give them away. Try a cabinet/woodworking shop before buying; just do not use walnut.

    Does anyone have experience with large and small hens mixed in the same flock? I have ordered 5 hens from McMurry- (2) Blk Australorps, (2) Buff Orpingtons and (1) Single-comb brown Leghorn. I am now wondering if the Leghorn is going to be compatible with four large birds.

    I placed an order today for 25 Ranger chicks from JM Hatchery. A local guy had a special feed made for his Rangers but the mill burnt down a month or two ago. This said, what do ya'll feed your Rangers?

    introducing new younger birds

    I thought about taking the top hen out of the picture for a while. She is a Barred Rock and a friend of mine has a BR rooster. So maybe a little date and distraction for her will be good for the new one. Thanks for your ideas.
