They definintely don't mind it dead (thawed). I finally tossed a snake reject to them and they LOVED it. Startd a whole chase going.
I could toss them live baby mice but I don't feel like I should encourage their blood-thirstiness.
Got a question about mealworm farming so hopefully this is the right thread to add to instead of starting a new one.
Is there a good way to separate the frass from tiny worms and eggs? I move the wheat bran (containing eggs) from the beetle bins and add them to my worm bin. So my worm bin...
I definitely have a cockerel on my hand. He's is 3 months old. When is a good time to harvest it? I am looking good size yet tender when roasted.
Thanks.
I'll give it a try next time and see what happens. Among 13 of them I think at least 1 would like it. I'd prefer to give them dead ones instead of live mice, just doesn't feel right.
As I am typing this I have a litter of mice being born right now.
I have mice to feed my snakes and they are having too many babies. Any hard if I feed my extra defrosted baby mice to the chicken? Would be make them more vicious?
Thanks.
I put in a few chicken nipples (from cconly.com) in a 5 gallon buckets. The chickens took them to immediately. However they seems to be rather messy waterer. Everytime the chicken "drink" from them some water would drip down to ground.
Am I doing something wrong? Obviously the nipples...
I am building my coop, and am probably going to use the deep litter method.
I am wondering how deep should I plan for for the deep litter? I want to make sure my nest boxes are high enough.
Thanks.
Phew, maybe there's hope for my EE/Ameraucana chick. It is massive with noticibly thinker legs than everyone else, even the other EE. I like that chick a lot, so fingers crossed.
I don't remember what hatchery my feed store order them from, but I don't think it is Belt.
She's still growing well, seems completely healthy. Her feathers are getting longer, but still only at most 1/2 the length of any other chicks. Looks a bit comical because of her large body yet chick...
I have a bunch of different breed chicks, and the only black sex link has really short wing feather. Is it normal? No one else look like that, the wing feathers are only 1/8" longer than the fuzz and it looks like she has no feather. All others have long wing feathers.
Very odd. She seems...
