    I was making an egg sandwich and I saw this, is this a sign my rooster is finally mating with my hens or just a random blood spot?

    Good to know. I've only had turken mixes. I'm glad it looks like I won't need to choose between her and my current rooster.

    That's what I thought but this bird is so protective of the others and the first to confront anything that comes near the run. Even quicker than the large australorp roo I have with them.

    Perhaps that means this chick is in fact a female as I suspected. The comb is basically nonexistent. It's smaller than the pea comb my ameraucana's had.

    I'm fairly sure she is a female. This is the other that hatched from the same parents, I believe it's male.

    Do these combs develop slower than single comb? I'm just surprised this birds comb is so small compared to its single comb clutchmate.

    Yep, and I am in the USA, I saw the parents the rooster had a V comb. It was pretty small though.

    I thought it looked kinda like a pea comb too, but if one parent was single comb and the other is v comb I just didn't see how pea comb could be a possibility. And thanks, I agree this is a cute chicken for sure! Currently it's 8 weeks old and the comb is still so small. It's very interesting...

    I have two naked neck houdan cross. The comb on one is very small and doesn't resemble the normal comb type of either parent. I only had 2 hatch from this batch of eggs one got the crest and naked neck and this odd comb. The other has a fully feathered neck, no crest, a beard and single comb...

    @pennyJo1960 and @ValerieJ I'm in Peirce County I'm sure they don't have bird flu cause they are still on the brooder. But if someone is interested I can wait till all this craziness is over, then get the birds to whomever wants them.
