I ordered a pair, one male and one female. From the research I've done it seems like the Pilgrims are a pretty friendly breed and I plan on handling them a lot. :)
Good Morning! I just placed an order for a pair of Pilgrims with Metzers. We already raise chickens and have a medium sized coop and fenced chicken run. We have raised ducks in the past.
My question is can you tell me about your experience starting Goslings for the first time? Tips and...
Hi All,
I am planning on purchasing a pair of American Buffs or Pilgrims. What breed is better for raising as pets with a family with kids? I am having a hard time finding a hatchery/breeder that will sell only 2 geese without a huge small order fee. We are in PA.
how long do you keep them under the lamp. I'm used to watching over them when its freezing out but if its 65 at nite I think the chicks should be fine after a week or two

My wife and I only got 20 and after a week it was time for them to go outside (per my request not my wifes). I just sent the rest of my flock to freezer camp this weekend and I would have to say I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of work but very rewarding.
I was worried when I got my birds that they would be hard to kill but after 6 weeks of food, water, more food and poop clean up I am looking forward to some fresh chicken. As my grandfather tells me .... his mother would chop the heads off of the chickens and through them out into the yard to...
I got my first batch of 20 this year and I started them in a large dog crate with cardboard around it. I cleaned the pen ever other day for a week and a half and then I finally decided they had to go outside (Farm animals live outside). I put them in my shed and the first night they where out...
That coop looks very nice!!! I am a contractor so I see what happens when people use regular lumber instead of pressure treated outside. You should be fine because your shed will be able to breath "air is moving around it. You will run into a roting problem where the pine comes in contact...
