I have hatched eggs with the incubator and also gotten ducklings from Tractor Supply in the past. So I always thought the black duck on the left was one we'd hatched because I assumed it was a mix of our black swedish and pekins. But, the more I look at it,it looks more like a Cayuga (which...
They could have. There was usually somebody with them at most times outside, but they could have. And they did, from the sounds of it. I'll find an unbreakable mirror to put with it. Thank you
It wasn't the temperature, it was definitely botulism (from what I've read of the symptoms, anyway). We've lost all of them except one and most of them dies when they weren't even in the container. They lost control of their necks and sometimes legs/feet. Two got to where the only thing they...
We have six 2 week old ducklings (was 8). All last night, I barely heard any peeping out of the 7 (which is extremely rare for these little buggers). Woke up this morning and stuck my hand in and none of them even tried to get up (they usually run from me immediately). Plus, their food was still...
19 baby chicks. 4 Plymouth Rock mixes, rest are a Rhode Island Red mix.
11 baby chicks. 3 Plymouth Rock mixes, rest are Rhode Island Red mix. Huffman, Texas. No shipping, only local pick up (doesn't have to be in Huffman). They hatched the 18/19th of June.
We have plymouth rock hens and rhode island red hens, but the two roosters are different breeds (no idea what type) . We had a 19/21 hatch and need to know what their mix is for selling. We believe one of the roosters is a buff Orpington, would that be why some of the white chicks have really...
There was a cracked egg in the nesting box today so I figured it was just sat on wrong or whatever, but I looked and not only was there no yolk, but the shell wasn't hard at all. It was paper-like/easily bendable. Not at all like a regular shell. Any ideas why? It's only that one so far.
The duck house and pen got finished yesterday. Still need to put letters/sign up on it, and Dad plans on giving it a walkway, but here it is. The goal was a school house look and apparently we reached it. The ducks sure love it, either way.
Front of the house and door going into their pen...
Well we have 8 hens and five boxes and usually this one or the fourth one has three eggs in it. I don't know if they usually do this but it was a funny sight to see this morning. :) Though there was only two eggs in the box and one of the three moved to the next box over, probably when the other...
Thank you. The only thing is, we have almost full grown Plymouth rocks but none of them have or had that reddish color. Or is that why it's a "barred" rock and not just plymouth? We did figure a rooster though, because of the already present comb. And for the black one, I guess we won't know for...
