Hi everyone,
It has been a long time since I have been on here and I need some advice now.
We just noticed that 1 of our ducks is hatching ducklings tonight. Do we need to separate her and the babies from the other ducks or will they be ok? We have 16 ducks total.
Thank you in advance.
I have a hen that I have actually had for 3 yrs and she just now started setting. Anyway, we have 2 chicks so far as of this morning. They are up in a nesting box about 3 ft off the floor and no room to put food bowl. Should I move mom, babies and the unhatched eggs to the floor or leave them...
She is 2 yrs old and I have 5 Pekins so I dont know when she actually laid an egg. From what I can tell, it's fluid under her skin. She doesnt hold still long enough for me to give her a "good" check over. She's eating, drinking and acting normal.
I have a 2 yr old Rouen female and she all of the sudden she swelled up like someone stuck an air hose in her and filled her up with air. She's still eating and drinking and acting fine.
Any ideas?
I had an Auricana rooster (BIG rooster) get killed by a hawk yesterday and this morning it was back. This thing is BIG. I My birds can get into the coop as well as a covered run, but we have a big area fenced so they can have free range all day, hoping to keep them safe..(that didn't work). The...
Yes they are pecking them. We have actually caught them at it. We were told we have to kill the ones doing it, but I think things are turning around since we started letting them out earlier. We are down a few boxes because we had to section off our coop for our younger chicks.
How many of you have a chicken that lives in the house? I have a 3 month old Gold Lace Wyndotte that we brought in about 2 weeks ago because she was 1/2 dead from the others not letting her eat or drink. I tried to put her back out on the 4th but they came after her as soon as she was down. She...
Thank you for your help. Today I actually got 12 eggs and there were only 2 broke. But I dont know if they are laying any around the yard. We have over an acre plus they roam in the fields around us, so they could be laying any where.
Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on here. I have some chickens that are breaking and eating the eggs. I have tried using golf balls (cause I was told they get frustrated when they cant break them and stop), we have also started letting free range our yard all day every day...
I have a question. I have some Buff Orpingtons and some Easter Egg chickens that are just now old enough to lay. I have been finding white eggs out side or on the floor. I'm assuming they're from my newer babies because my yearlings all lay in the nesting boxes.
My question is, why are they...
