    I am also in my first year so not an expert at all but we put straw in our nest boxes and golf balls and our hens lay in the boxes. Except for the shelless ones that they layed in the night right under the roost, seemed like they were on accident!

    My chicks are about 14 weeks old and all are in what seems to be different stages developmentaly.     Loving this site and my chickens!

    I have 2 Buff Orrpington's, 2 Barred Rocks and an Arucana. They are still young too and I just love them! They are very entertaining. :)
