Exploring the garden for the first time *pics*

Thank you :) until I've built a larger secure pen they will only be coming out whilst I'm there because although we have very few predators here that would take on a duck this size I'm not risking it :)

Exploring the garden for the first time *pics*

I've had my two ducks for just under a week (a week tomorrow) and yesterday I opened up the cage to see if they'd venture out, they came out for a bit but didn't go far, after a while I put them back in, today I let them out again for a good few hours, they chased off the neighbour's cats so...

    My new ducks arrived *pictures*

I got my two Muscovies yesterday, and I am in love! They're two 9 month old ducks, called Susan and Jane... They're being so good despite being obviously nervous, they came a bit closer to me today to get some lettuce so hopefully it wont be long until they realise I'm not scary, then they can...

    Muscovy Duck Advice...

Thank you, and thank you all for being patient with my ignorance! I can't wait to get my girls, I've wanted ducks for years and it's finally happening! I'm going out to buy 'duck stuff' this week and I am ridiculously excited.

    Muscovy Duck Advice...

I was going to make the ramp less steep but will find a wider alternative, I was going to put some railings along the side too, to prevent any falling ducks! I've just thought I can add to the top of our garden fence to make it taller for when they are free-ranging, that way they'll be more...

    Muscovy Duck Advice...

Not really, we're lucky in the UK that most of our 'predators' wouldn't take on a larger duck, but they'd be in a secure pen at night. The neighbours have two cats but they're not particularly good hunters, my rabbits and guinea pigs have lived happily in the garden with no disturbances, because...

    Muscovy Duck Advice...

The problem is we live in terraced houses and the gardens are seperated by 3ft high fences, and I'm sure the neihbours wont want them jumping into their garden... I'm starting to think this is a mistake. I'd love them but I really don't want to compromise their care in anyway.

    Muscovy Duck Advice...

Thank you for the advice, I'm a bit worried now. The breeder knew our cage was for them to live in (obviously they will get to free range when they've settled a bit) but now I'm worried it's too small! It's a run with a raised hut, it's 3ft wide, 6ft long and the run is 3ft high, the bit with...

    Muscovy Duck Advice...

Ok so an hour or so ago I posted a thread about Silver Appleyards as a starter duck, well I went to buy a duck house off someone this evening and they happen to breed Muscovies, and I ended up agreeing to have two young females! As I said in previous thread, I am a total duck beginner so any...

    Silver Appleyard Ducks

Hi all, I'm new here and a first time duck owner! I'm looking to get some ducks soon and have been looking through the breeds, I really like the look of Silver Appleyards so was wondering if you could answer some questions for me? I've owned animals for the last 13 years but never ducks (I...
