Heat source, care for baby chicks ...am new at this help

The chicks are fine. I’ve raised several and it takes a lot to kill em. I’m just stating what I grew up learning and I’ve never killed one bird from lack of heat. I think she’s doing perfect.

Heat source, care for baby chicks ...am new at this help

No need to get aggressive. I’m just trying to help out. Also, heat lamps produce more heat. Which differs from a lightbulb in many ways and isn’t as bright. But either one works.

Strange hen introduced to flock without proper introduction (need advice)

I’m not any chicken expert but she might be molting, or she might possibly have some sort of parasite or somthing around that.

Heat source, care for baby chicks ...am new at this help

I was saying even without a heat lamp I’m sure they are fine with a light bulb. The chicks also produce heat that is keeping them warm too. Just keep them warm, and fed and happy and you’ll have some hens.

Heat source, care for baby chicks ...am new at this help

As long as they are in a draft free place, I’m pretty sure they are fine. The setup Josip has is perfect.

Heat source, care for baby chicks ...am new at this help

They need the lamp for the time that they still have fluffy down feathers on them. There’s not really a set time. I had my chickens on heat lamps until they were old enough to go outside. I’m sure they’d be fine even without the lamp. They have each other for a heat source.

Strange hen introduced to flock without proper introduction (need advice)

I’m not sure what you can do about your situation, but if it’s a single hen, and if the hen is indeed sick... The other chickens will probably peck it to death. You might need to take the other chicken out if that happens. Also, hens can grow spurs. It doesn’t really happen unless the bird is an...

Does anyone know if chicken saddles prevent hawk attacks?

Probably not worth the money. If your raising the for pets or livestock. Hawks go for chickens but if the chickens have somthing to take cover under then that will help. Our chickens have had a few hawk attacks, but if you build a little lean-to or put in some bushes in their coop they can take...
