    Deep litter method

Our coop was initially going to be a movable tractor but hubby got ambitious and now it's too big to move but too small to walk in and out of. The roof is on hinges and it takes two people to open it and then I have to get on a chair and climb into it to clean it. I use a shop-vac (without...

    Free EE baby roo

We have a beautiful 7 or 8 week old EE cockerel. He's a gorgeous but we just can't keep a roo where we live. We don't want any money for him, just a good home. You can't really tell in the picture but it looks like he's wearing eyeliner! Sorry, but pick-up only in Stafford, VA

My chick thinks she's a fish!

Nope to all the questions....she's acting just like all the other chickies. Eating okay, not too hot, doing the chicken dance while scratching for crumbles -- everything seems to be fine. I guess I'll stop worrying and start concentrating on getting them to love me as much as I love them!

My chick thinks she's a fish!

I have a 4 week old easter egger and I've never seen a chick drink as much water as this one does! If she's just passing by the waterer she'll always go in for a quick sip but she'll also stand there and drink and drink and drink.....and drink some more! She does this alot! I wouldn't think...

Quote: Bwaack!! Who has time to scour an acre of woods??!! If keeping them in lockdown produces eggs in the nesting box, I think I'll just pretend that that the first one I find is the 'first one'!

Red combs and wattles but no eggs!

Life WILL be good when I find my first egg! I thought they only lay in the morning. Is that not true?

I'll try it but it's gonna be hard when they start crying, "Mommy, let us out!!!"

Red combs and wattles but no eggs!

My three EE girls are 25 weeks old and two of them (Mabel and Ethel) have had bright red combs and wattles for weeks now. Just this morning I've noticed the third (Mamie) is getting 'red in the comb', but no sign of eggs! I haven't noticed any squatting or other signs (is there really a...
