Very common for pullets to do this. I overcame same issue by purchasing a bad of shell grit from local produce/farm store

    Sexing Sussex breeds

Hi we have just started of with Sussex (buff and speckled). Looking for any advice on best way to sex from day olds through to 18 weeks. I have been told comb sexing at around 14 weeks is the most reliable. Appreciate any tips/advice the BYC members have. Thanks

    Reducing humidity

Without viewing the size and relative ventilation it more than likely is a ventilation problem a rooftop ventilation system like a whirlybird might be worth a try.

How soon might I get fertilised eggs?

Usually fertility will really improve around 5 months but unfortunately it will be just through trial to see if he’s fertility is up. Mating is a good sign and he should be producing the goods to fertilise the egg
