    Blind chick

You mean once I move the chicks outside keep her separated so she doesn’t get bullied by the older hens? Seems like she has two protectors right now that come right to her if she starts chirping loudly. Hopefully they’ll always be her buddy.

    Blind chick

I was recently working somewhere that sells chicks, so they get shipments of hatchery birds in. I noticed one chick standing alone and looking confused so I brought her into the back of the store. I ended up bringing her home so I could care for her thinking she may just be dehydrated or injured...

    Hen doesn’t look right, help!

I caught her and ended up having to cull her today. She was injured by something for sure. Left wing was probably broken, and had several deep wounds near her vent that were crawling with maggots. I tried to clean her up but the wounds were already starting to fester. I don’t know how I didn’t...

    Hen doesn’t look right, help!

Would the orengano tea just be oregano in their water? I was wondering if the rooster hurt her trying to mate with her. He’s been pretty rough lately. There have been hawks around but I have some small chickens that are about 2 months old running around and I would think they would be more of...

    Hen doesn’t look right, help!

I have an Easter Egger that’s 2-3 years old. I believe she has bad genetics as I got about a handful of eggs from her when she was almost a year old and then quit laying all together. I kept her since she was part of my original flock. I have a rooster that mates with her (against her will, she...

Roosters need homes - Long Island

I have (6) cockerels that need to be rehomed. I found homes for two of them at this time, but need to find homes for the rest. They are black copper marans/cream legbar mixes. About 4 months old. Just starting to crow and messing with my hens.

When I checked on them last night and saw they were all underneath the silkie I was like “that is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!”

7 week old silkie mothering day old chicks

I put them together knowing silkies had a sweet temperament. Do you think it’s safe to assume this silkie is a female? Or do you think a cockerel would also act this way with baby chicks?

7 week old silkie mothering day old chicks

I have a question to see if anyone has experienced this: I bought 2 straight run silkies about a month ago. Unfortunately one of them passed away yesterday suddenly, which happened to be the same day I was getting a delivery of 6 day old chicks. The silkie that was left was getting picked on...
