    I am using a DIY styrofoam cooler with a 25 watt bulb and small desk fan. I am also hand turning. I don't expect a spectacualr hatch percentage given my set up but it's great fun for me and the kids.

    Just got my 16 eggs in. They're going to be all mixes. The eggs are from my own little backyard flock of 2 white leghorns, 1 tetra tint, 2 red sex links and an unknown pale orange=ish hen. The rooster for all is a gorgeous Partridge Plymouth Rock.

    If they have never had access to roosts yes it's normal to just pile up on the floor. Maybe pick up a few and put them onto the roosts manually so they get the hang of it. They will eventually all roost.
