    I hatched out two Ameraucanas, one black and one lavender. They are twelve weeks and I am looking for help in identifying their sex. Most breeds I can tell by now but being a bit of a chicken newb these two have me stumped.

    Very docile and calm actually. My husband carries him around and the roo is fine with it, just sits there. He moves out of our way when we feed and water. He has shown no sign of wanting to attack us and he is gentle with his hens when mating. We have another younger rooster of a different breed...

    Nice. You thought they were close to laying . The color of mine has varied alot this week. Some dark, some light, some very nicely speckled like yours. I am loving they early laying. Kinda makes up for the not what I bought thing. Eggs from today.

    Just an update. At 5 wks, she is still tiny, not feathering much, but holds her own in her flock. No one picks on her and she acts like all her mates scratching and running around.
