This is Elvis, and he knows his name very well. He is also helping raise the babies, he even lets them pick his feathers and his feet, without drama. We have lost a few birds this summer, but Elvis stays alert. He won't let me hold him, unless I grab him to give him special care. Once I've got him, he behaves.
In just a few days, I will have a total of 43 chicks hatched, either by broody hens or incubated by me. I will have to recount all my birds at the end of the month. My silkies decided to go broody all at the same time, another 15 will hatch soon. Unfortunately, they may not all be pure silkies, since my Pyle rooster somehow got into the silkie coop... Sneaky rooster! But I am hoping to sell chicks. Any suggestions?
